Six years from now, <i>”the youth of the world”</i> will descend on East London for the 2012 Olympics. In readiness for that momentous occasion, this once rundown Local Authority is transforming itself with major regeneration schemes across the borough, including renovation of its parks and open spaces. To achieve this they require Interim Parks Service Manager on a part-time basis to be responsible for the provision, delivery and management of a professional, innovative, effective, high quality Parks Service; developing partnerships, leading initiatives and seeking all available resources to contribute to and deliver their New Vision.
In addition to service management, there is a Parks Strategy to progress/deliver. In addition there will be a GBP2˝m HLF (Heritage Lottery Fund) project to secure final approval for and set in place/procure delivery mechanisms. You should have a good understanding and track record of successfully accessing external funding. You will need to be strong on strategic planning of open space, possess good appreciation of the open space role/dimension in regeneration, rather than skills in grounds maintenance contracts.
