Curtis Wright Controls Embedded Computing Division based in Letchworth, Hertfordshire is seeking an experience Embedded Software Engineer.
Position Summary:
You will be responsible for the development and support of CWCEC's radar video and graphics products as well as the software based video and radar distribution products, together providing complete solutions to our customer needs. Working as part of a small software team, you will be responsible for all aspects of the Software development for a product, from the preparation of the Specification through to the formal release and maintenance.
Position Responsibilities:
Embedded software development using a variety of operating systems and hardware platforms
Troubleshooting and testing of software under multiple operating systems and hardware platforms
Application development in support of product features and/or customer opportunities
Interfacing with internal and external customers
Industry research and awareness of comparable offerings in radar, graphics and video field
Generation of user and design documentation
Development of enhancements to existing Software products
Skills and Experience:
Proven embedded software development skills C/C++
Proven ability to work with Hardware Engineers to debug products
Familiarity with video compression techniques including JPEG 2000, MPEG, JPEG an asset
Familiarity with Radar signal processing desirable
Development of low-level (driver or embedded) software
Experience with the integration and debug of software with new hardware
Experience in development on a PowerPC target
Software development experience with a minimum of 4 of the following:
X Windows, X11R6, OpenGL, Linux , Windows, VxWorks/Tornado/Workbench

Curtis Wright currently operate a 9/10 working week during the Summer months (typically May to August) whereby employees have the choice of working a normal 37.5hr working week over 5 days or working a 75hr fortnight over 9 days and having every second Friday off. This is a not a guaranteed scheme, and is about to end for this year.
