This engineering centre in Livingston, Scotland is seeking a Software / Hardware Engineer to carry out a wide range of activities related to speech and audio product development. This includes the design and verification of embedded firmware and hardware, and the design and preparation of evaluation / demonstration kits and associated documentation.
The Software / Hardware Engineer will join a small systems group, based in our office in Scotland, Livingston. Responsibilities will include:
Specification, design, and implementation of demo/evaluation systems for our forthcoming range of speech interface chips.
Complete system design - digital, analog, software;
Component specification and selection;
PCB design and coordination of external PCB manufacturers;
Microcontroller software development.
System firmware development and integration of algorithms.
Real-time embedded systems and software
Ideal candidates will have a mix of software and hardware engineering skills(ideally 50 / 50%); hold a good degree in electronic engineering or related discipline and some of the skills below.
Real-time embedded systems and software.
C and assembly language programming;
Good working knowledge of digital electronics, microcontroller / microprocessors
PCB design and debugging;
Good organizational skills;
Good written and oral communication skills
This is an exciting and challenging role that will present the successful candidate with an ideal opportunity to make a valuable and tangible contribution to the activities of the group. The role is likely to appeal to a talented and highly motivated engineer with a few years postgraduate experience, there is likely to be scope for future development in the area of embedded firmware and/or IC hardware design.
