This hybrid role will cover the development & maintenance of infrastructure equipment and test facilities in laboratory & manufacturing environments.
On the hardware side we're looking for knowledge/experience in areas such as Ethernet & ATM networking, hubs, switches, routers, infrastructure components etc. Experience of UTP & fibre networks or electrical wiring systems would be useful.
On the software side areas of interest include knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, protocols and IP multicast. Operating systems which would be relevant include Linux, Irix, Solaris, Free BSD, Windows. Ideally you would have experience of network monitoring tools, as well as the tools used to simulate different network types (ADSL, VDSL etc.)
It would certainly be of interest if you have managed video servers including NEC HyperMS, Concurrent MediaHawk, Kasenna MediaBase, Oracle OVS, ncube NVS & Thirdspace OVS. Ideally you will have been exposed to the structured design of real-time software in C, C++ or assembler.
