Development Engineer, Midlands, mechanical, optical, electronics, instruments, sheet metal, die casting, plastic moulding, life science
The Engineer will perform a central role in the team, including translating functional requirements, commissioning prototypes, running evaluation programs, troubleshooting, and helping to develop the manufacturing process.
To design and construct prototype equipment, liaising with the other members of the product development team, purchasing and manufacturing as required.
To design and plan experiments to test the specifications on prototypes and sub systems, with attention to project timelines and budgets.
To evaluate prototypes, systems, sub-systems and components during product development to ensure their quality and fitness of purpose.
The preferred candidate will be someone with a level of experience in a product development role with an understanding of the mechanical, electronic and optical engineering fields.
Ideally you will have knowledge of machining, sheet metal, castings and plastic moulding manufacturing processes and materials.
