Our Client began operations in 1994 as an autonomous division of The Mobilefone Group, specialising in offering after sales support to the cellular and digital electronics industries. Since their inception they have grown enormously and moved to larger premises to meet increasing demand. This demand has led to the need for Mobile/Cellular Diagnostic Technicians. Duties: You will receive the phone product and test for either known, or unknown fault conditions (Dependent on experience level), once diagnosed the product will then be passed through to the relevant re-workers to fix before extensive testing and quality control. Where necessary you will document the diagnoses process to help develop the best methods for future diagnoses. You should be familiar with common faults, and both automatic and manual test equipment. Dependent on Experience Level there is scope to move from L2 - L3, and then managerial levels. Applicants at L2 should be able to: • Show good ESD awareness, workshop practice, tool use & maintenance. • Show good ESD component handling and identification capabilities. • Show good reading & comprehension of circuit diagrams. • Operate automatic and manual test equipment (GSM multi-mode test sets, DVMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies). • Be able to work on own initiative and learn new phone products & faults in a relatively short space of time. • Be able to report to Training Department when new trends or faults are encountered. • Be able to apply modifications specified in Engineering and Service Bulletins. Whilst more Experienced Level 3 Applicants should be able to: • Communicate & demonstrate an excellent knowledge of all of the above. • Excellent general knowledge of GSM network & protocols, particularly for the air-interface part. • Operate automatic and manual test equipment & verify calibration or calibrate where appropriate. • Be able to work on own initiative in all aspects of their work. • Be able to learn new phone product operation, layout, theory of operation & faults in short timescales, documenting information, and work with the NPI (New Product Introduction) Team where appropriate in the introduction of new products to the main workshop area. • Be a mentor to less senior Technicians encouraging personal & technical development in all areas. • Repair and/or maintain the in house range of equipment liable to need ongoing or in-service maintenance.
