A unique opportunity has arisen to join one of the world's leading brands involving a mixture of chemical technology, automation & high level electronics and have an enviable range of proprietary technology and best-in-class services. Continued demand in the UK, continental Europe and South East Asia has led to the requirement for additional professionals including a Senior Supply Engineer to based in Burgess Hill.
The main focus for this role is to support NPI and Tradewind cost reduction projects. In summary, 70% of items used in manufacture of products is purchased. The engineer is responsible for ensuring the components are purchased from the correct vendor at the total lowest cost option.
Typically day to day activities include: Cost Reduction, Kaizen, Improvement projects, Tooling & equipment development, Capital expenditure justification, Method definition & documentation, Engineering change, design reviews, kanban maintenance and supplier negotiation & development.
Key skills/experience:
Significant experience in a technical/operational/purchasing role within an engineering company.
Possess a sound engineering knowledge of designs and be able to influence designs to minimise cost, scrap and waste.
Must be knowledgeable about manufacturing methods and lean manufacturing techniques.
In addition candidates will have high levels of self-discipline, good communication skills, be able to work successfully with others, as well as being able to lead activities and to operate effectively under pressure.
Ideally candidates will be qualified to a degree level in a related discipline. Please note at times during projects, international travel may be a requirement for this role.
