Mechanical Engineering Manager, Hants, stress, thermal, electromech, instrumentation, SDRC
Main duties / responsibilities
Manage the team of engineers, which includes selection, management and training of the team and providing them with a structure and career path.
Propose, implement and manage a roadmap of improved practices and tools to assist in product design and development. Including but not restricted to simulation tools for stress, thermal and shock performance, tools to facilitate re-use and standard design, supplier integration tools and SW packages.
Liaise with the company purchasing team to help manage and choose the supplier base.
Drive best practices with respect to product endurance and reliability.
To review designs to ensure parts and products are designed for manufacturability and assembly, each time and any time.
To continually reduce the design cycle time for new products through these improved processes, ways of working and supplier integration.
To generate mechanical project plans, monitor progress and drive the team to deliver on time.
To provide hands on assistance, including CAD design when necessary.
Experience /Skills
Extensive experience in a medium volume electro mechanical instrumentation or consumer electronics field.
Ideally capable of using SDRC Master series CAD sw.
Someone who is organised and able to drive and inspire a team to deliver and achieve.
Candidate needs to be a leader, is part of the Engineering management team and will be a change agent for bringing in new practices and improved ways of working.
Needs to be an outstanding team player and have good commercial awareness when dealing with suppliers, project managers alike.
