My client, based in Bury, Suffolk are a world leader in providing products, services and solutions to the broadcast, entertainment and media industries.
They currently require a 3D Mechanical Design Engineer - Degree Qualified, to join their expanding team.
Overall Purpose of Job:
To undertake the mechanical design and development of new products from concept to series production, supervising (when applicable) other Design and Development Engineers.
To produce the overall product design and carry out detail design of mechanical aspects of the company's new products.
To carry out detail mechanical design for customisation of existing products.
Major Responsibilities and Tasks:
Design
Mechanical design of new products to time and cost targets
Product design for cost effective manufacture
Initiation and development of innovative engineering solutions
Design, testing and manufacturing documentation in accordance with company practices
Theoretical modelling and analysis for concept development and design verification
Project planning and management
To produce test documentation as required to ensure equipment designs perform to the expected requirements.
Education and Qualifications:
Degree, MSc or Equivalent in a related subject (Mechanical Engineering)
Support
Technical support for manufacturing during product introduction
Sales and customer services support
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Commercial experience in Mechanical Design, ideally with experience of working with mechanical / mechatronical systems.
Fluent with CAD design, using 3D systems.
Able to apply appropriate theoretical analysis in the development of engineering solutions.
Conversant with major simulation and CAE applications.
Experience of precision machined parts, castings, sheet metalwork and plastics, drive mechanisms, transmissions.
