CONTRACT POSITION 9 MONTHS, from MAR 2004

Position for a Mechanical Technician for the small-batch and pre-production manufacture of an electro-surgical generator and accessories; together with providing support to instrument development.


Duties:

Preparation of prototype or pre-production electro surgical or similar devices for testing in workshop, laboratory, test house or hospital environments.

Manipulating, machining, fabricating and assembly of precision plastic, metal, ceramic or other parts to suit the function of the devices.

Carry out modifications or amendments to parts or devices as instructed for development purposes

Sourcing specific materials and components for the prototype builds / trials.

Liaison with workshop personnel and engineers etc. during prototype manufacture. Undertake practical development work, individually or as part of a team, conducting investigative experiments and recording results as appropriate.

Maintaining sketches, drawings, technical documents and reports in logbooks as and when required to record development activity.

Kitting and hand assembly of first off sample and small batch mechanical/electro-mechanical assemblies and their integration into a final product


Essential Skills:

Good experience and ability in precision mechanical assembly of small devices and instruments

Ability and motivation to work efficiently to a high standard with minimal supervision as part of a small team working to a strict deadline

Ability to work primarily from documentation and to communicate effectively with co-workers, design engineers and managers any apparent errors or difficulties in meeting requirements

Experience in the manufacture of medical devices and/or of other devices within a strict quality and regulatory control environment

Flexibility to work effectively within a fast-changing environment


Desirable Skills:

Experience in creating orders from Bills of Materials and placing orders for component parts from supplierswww.globefolio.com

Our client, a leading Medical Devices Manufacturer requires a Mechanical Engineer for a 9 mth contract starting Mar'04. You will be involved with small-batch and pre-production manufacture of electrosurgical medical devices and support to instrument development. You will have gd exp of precision mechanical assembly of small devices /instruments, ideally medical devices and/or other devices manufactured in a strictly regulated environment. Any exp creating orders from Bill of Materials is desirable.
