Linux IT Support Engineer
A leading Systems Engineering company who provide world class R&D and Test, Measurement & Automation Solutions urgently require an IT Support Engineer to work from their Dorset facility.
Experience.
Linux server network management for business networks.
Setup and administration of workgroups, file / printer sharing, e-mail server, web portal and firewall.
Setup and maintenance of client accounts.
In depth knowledge of Debian Linux.
In depth knowledge of network architecture / protocols.
Building custom Linux kernels.
Configuring backup software & schedules.
Building PCs
Fault finding on PCs to a module level.
Installing Windows 2000& XP operating systems
Installing a variety of desktop packages such as office programs, anti-virus, etc?
Provide support for office applications.
Install & Maintain printers.
Monitor backups and troubleshoot backup failures.
Troubleshoot basic network problems
Experience of installing and configuring:
LDAP - authentication
Samba - windows networking on Linux
Courier - email server
Postfix - email
Clam - anti-virus (email)
Apache - web server
Subversion - software version management
Good knowledge of sage accounting software management also important.
