Our client's group has three businesses which are focused on the industrial/commercial instrumentation market. Application Sales Engineers will be recruited, each committed to an individual product category. The positions will report through the internal Sales Manager to the Group Sales Manager and in addition they will also provide backup and support Marketing, Product Management and Field Sales. Although the position will be located within the Peterlee facility there will be the need for the occasional visit to customers in the UK and where necessary other parts of the world.
The Application/Sales Engineer will be the product champion and through a process of training and development will become the expert on their products and the applications. This expertise will be available to the company's customers, distributors and sales team and the individuals will be expected to use this knowledge in a proactive fashion in the search for new customers and the development of existing customers. The Application Sales Engineer will be expected to be self starters capable of demonstrating a high degree of tenacity and innovation. You must have the ability to listen to customers and the confidence to initiate contacts and where appropriate provide assistance and support. You must be team player with the determination to strive for objectives and follow opportunities through to their conclusion without the need for continual management supervision.
This will be extremely important position within the organisation, not only because you will be an integral part in the sales and business development role but will also been seen as a source of new products and applications but also a the front of knowledge for their product group. Career development opportunities are good with this position leading into further sales or product management positions.
The ideal candidate will have a technical qualification preferably a HNC or a degree in electronic/electrincal engineering. You will have ideally have had a minimum of two years' post graduate experience in a technical sales role. You must be articulate and capable of displaying the clarity of thought which enables you to quickly assimilate information, analyse situations and formulate results.. You should be outward going and capable of displaying the strength of character which will allow you to proactively seek out opportunities.
The areas of instrumentation are installation testing and portable appliance testing, performance and production line electrical safety testing and finally precision instrumentation associated with the measurement of low resistance, temperature and electrical resistance standards. Experience in any one of these fields would be distinct advantage. The positions carry an attractive salary and good benefits and excellent opportunities in development.
