Production test engineer to support a range of telecom networking products of LANs, WANs, Routers, Hubs, Switches, etc.. for system solutions to end users involving the system design of in-house designed and manufactured products with bought-in off the shelf networking products. Initial responsibilities will be learning about all new and legacy telecommunication products in a testing role, advancing to provide help line support (including trouble shooting on configuration issues), liaising with customers on general application problems and eventually progressing to a department supervisory / managerial position so applicants should have the interest to do so. You might have an electronics apprenticeship or HNC (or equivalent hands-on type qualification) relating to telecoms networking, 1 years relevant industry experience, good new technology awareness and a strong desire to pursue a career in telecoms networking applications. Desirable: knowledge of some of LAN / WAN; X25, ISDN, Frame Relay and ATM; technologies, IP networking and xDSL Broadband access, IT (Windows, firewalls, virus protection, system support), PDH, SDH, WDM, HDLC, LAPB, SAPI, VPN, DHCP, OSPF, DSLAM. This is a permanent position with salary according to ability.Salary iro GBP20k p.a.with progression to GBP25k when running department.
