You will be involved in the surveys and also prepare the specifications and sketches in order to obtain competitive tenders for minor building works.
The ideal candidate will have good building fabrication knowledge and an understanding of the building's utilities with 5 years experience and preferably HNC or higher qualified, although experience is more important. Local authority experience would be an advantage.
The following knowledge / qualities are essential:
* Good knowledge of all general trades: for example; Carpentry (windows/kitchens/flooring etc) Brickwork (walls/types/render/plaster/artex).
* Ability to prepare a tender document with specification and follow through tender process.
* Sound knowledge of damp, condensation and decay in residential buildings.
* Knowledge and demonstration of H&S in the workplace.
* Subsidence/underpinning/foundation cracking - basic structural engineering is desirable.
* Different types of roofing/brickwork/plumbing.
* An understanding of the Egan principals and working in a 'Partnering Arrangement'.
* electrical - Basic 16th Edition & Gas - ACOPS (ACS) for gas law - basic knowledge is desirable i.e. H&S issues but comprehensive knowledge not desirable as specialist suryeyors in this role.
* Drainage - must know or demonstrate a desire to thoroughly be aware of local water bylaws.
* IT skills; Essential to have a sound working knowledge of Office package, Word, Outlook (email), Excel. Training may be given for additional packages.
