Our client offers management consulting and information technology skills, enabling customers to support business opportunities and performance with efficient and innovative solutions: CRM, BI, Web solutions, Portals, Content Management, e-Commerce, Knowledge Management, IT architectures. They now have a vacancy for a Cognos PowerPlay Developer: The Role & Responsibilities: • Experienced Business Intelligence applications developer, specifically Cognos Powerplay but preferably including other similar tools e.g. Business Objects • The role involves the design and development of Cognos PowerPlay reports for Business Intelligence projects • Self starter, takes a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to tasks and project work and assists in the investigation of all Business Intelligence requirements • Enjoys a challenge, enthusiastic, with analytical and problem solving abilities • Ability to take ownership of a project related issue and see it through to successful conclusion • Ability to work under pressure and unsociable hours as dictated by project need • Ability to work on longer duration projects - keeping the interest going • Ability to travel and work away from home during the week if necessary • Demonstrated ability to work as part of small or large team Key skills are: • Experience of working as a Cognos PowerPlay Developer for a major IT supplier, Software House, Consultancy or End User • Will have been working in a software engineering role for 2 or more years, with typical project durations of 3 - 12 months or more • Ideally experience of working on Business Intelligence projects • Able to both specify and develop reports using Cognos PowerPlay from requirements • Familiar with and can implement the appropriate development and quality standards for Cognos PowerPlay • Familiar with and can implement the appropriate test plans and test scripts to ensure quality results • Able to analyse requirements and derive data requirements • Able and confident to deal with complex customer situations • Able to communicate at all levels of an organisation • Able to deal with both technical and business personnel • Trained by Cognos or an approved 3rd party
