As a major European Consulting, Systems Integration and Application Outsourcing company, our Client guides businesses in their conversion projects, from the definition of strategies to their implementation. Their assets include expertise in major projects, knowledge of our clients specific business, expertise in technologies, and a broad European presence. Our client(one of Europes leading IT solution providers), has a proven track record of providing IT services to its ever-expanding list of blue chip clients, across the core sectors: Banking/Finance, Insurance, Manufacturing/Distribution, Telecommunications, Retail, Utilities and Public Sectors. Located in 7 European countries with approx. 7,000 employees, of whom 1,500 are outside of France. With 4 Business Units positioned strategically throughout the UK: London (central), Stevenage, Oxford and Edinburgh, Our client in the UK is therefore always searching for high calibre consultants. They now have a vacancy for a Senior J2EE Developer. J2EE development covering java programming, EJB development and deployment, web application development (JSP, servlets) and database. Application server: experience of a commercial application server (e.g. weblogic, oracle, websphere) Web development using JSP, tag libraries, (Struts & tiles experience useful) Database: sound knowledge and experience of databases including sql calls and data modelling, particularly with Oracle. Testing experience using Junit would be useful and any further testing experience or background would be desirable. Experience of performance issues and tuning applications would be useful, especially in terms of planning for performance at the design stage. Html skills would be useful, but this is a development role focused on J2EE development using JSPs and typically the Struts tags. Experience of Hibernate, Toplink or other data persistence tools would be useful. Experience of the Spring framework would be desirable. This is a role within an existing development team that is looking to expand. The candidate would be expected to take responsibility for technical development and also work with junior colleagues. Team leading experience would be useful, but this is not formally a part of the role. The candidate should have a mature outlook, be used to meeting deadlines for development and have been exposed to the rigours of producing production releases for clients.
