The Technical Architect is responsible for ensuring the quality of the technical solution for any project that s/he has been asked to supervise or participate in, and is expected to help develop the technical team’s skills and to mentor members of the team, as well as evangelise key technologies and technical best practices within Wheel. Only applicants with all the following skills will be considered: *In depth understanding of digital media in respect of platforms and associated technologies * New media agency development background and appreciation of technology as an enabler to design and interactivity * Breadth of technology expertise in the Microsoft sphere, with wide appreciation of other technologies * Deep understanding of the medium (web, interactive TV and mobile technologies) in respect of technical implementation best practice * Understanding of code control systems including VSS and CVS * Understanding of software design and development methodologies such as UML and Agile Development Candidates must have, as an absolute minimum, proven technical experience of: * 2 years C# * 5+ years programming in either VB or C++ * 3+ years SQL Server and T-SQL * 4+ years HTML (including XHTML 1.0) and CSS * Knowledge and successful implementation experience of one or more of: Microsoft Commerce Server or Microsoft Content Management Server Key responsibilities of the role: * Identifies the technical approach and outlines the technical solution * Translates functional requirements into documented technical requirements * Provides a rationale for the technical approach * Identifies third party technologies and products as required by the technical solution * Provides high level guidance and troubleshooting over the technical implementation * Regularly review and highlight improvements to software development practices at Wheel * Quality Assure the technical implementation by Wheel staff and contractors on projects that the Technical Architect is overseeing Key relationships: CTO: technical strategy, development of technology approach and skill set * Heads of Production and Technical: resourcing and skills development * Developers: sharing of ideas, mentoring Broad targets and goals * Contribution to won business through the quality of our technical approach * Delivery of technical implementation to quoted timescale and budgets * Personal utilization target of 65%
